Directing Workshop with Kevin McKendrick
SYNOPSIS: Participants will explore intermediate directing subjects, including: what is an actor's role versus a director's, molding performances to suit your vision, & building a unified team. Newcomers are welcome, but please be aware that this workshop will be set at an intermediate level, and basic concepts will not be the focus.
INSTRUCTOR BIO: Kevin McKendrick is a Calgary based director, producer, performer, educator, and arts administrator. His direction has been nominated for eight Betty Mitchell Awards, and his productions of Urinetown, Boy Gets Girl, and The Good Life won the Betty Mitchell Award for Outstanding Direction. Glenn, which he directed for Blacklist Theatre, won a special Betty Mitchell Award jury prize for Outstanding Ensemble (2005). Kevin has directed for nearly every professional theatre company in Calgary, and has directed work in Edmonton, Banff, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia. Kevin has taught acting and directing at The University of Alberta, Red Deer College, Central Memorial Performing Arts program, and Mount Royal University.
