Michael Chekhov: An Introduction to Inspired Acting

Michael Chekhov, the nephew of Anton Chekhov and Stanislavski’s “most brilliant pupil” developed an innovative approach to acting which is now gaining widespread recognition in Europe and America. His technique is primarily psychophysical and aims to heighten the actor’s awareness of the transformative power of the imagination. Exercises lead the actor to discover the powerhouse of sensations and feelings lying within. Imagery and impulse awaken energies which transforms the space and transcend time. From a place of openness, the ensemble begins to experience telepathic consciousness and body-to-body communication. Presence is heightened, and the actor discovers the joy of playing with his creative individuality.
