Iam Coulter presents: Exploring Shakespeare: HAMLET (For teachers, actors and directors of any experience level.)

Based on the unique and long-developed techniques of Shakespeare & Company* (Lenox, MA) this workshop will utilize exercises which can be used to explore any of Shakespeare’s plays. Participants will use these techniques to awaken the emotional, imaginative and physical dimensions of Shakespeare’s most illuminating texts.

HAMLET. Over the course of 5 days we will dive deep into themes, characters, and relationships as we work as a group to bring this text to life.

Whether you are well versed in Shakespeare or a relative newcomer; an actor, a director, or a teacher; this workshop will encourage you to expand your understanding, deepen your personal connection, and activate your imagination.

Instructor Bio: Iam Coulter is an actor, director, arts administrator and teaching artist with a specialized focus in Shakespeare performance. Following the completion of her BFA from the University of Calgary, Iam performed with many local companies such as: Citadel Theatre, Theatre Calgary, The Shakespeare Company, Vertigo Mystery Theatre, Alberta Theatre Projects, and Theatre Junction. Iam discovered a passion for Shakespeare during her years as the artistic producer of The Shakespeare Company in Calgary AB. Iam then went on to train extensively with Shakespeare & Company in Lenox MA at the 2012 month long performance intensive, returning later that year to complete the conservatory program and then begin her ongoing teaching apprenticeship with the company. In 2016, she participated in the company’s education department’s professional development workshops and in 2018 she returns for a fourth January performance intensive as a teacher trainee.
