COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Many professional actors diversify their income streams by doing new play development work. Those that are good at it work consistently. Learn how to develop that "actor muscle" . Find out what the protocols are so that you will be asked back again and again.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Caroline is an award-winning playwright who has written 31 plays which have had 61 productions across Canada and the USA. She is a member and past vice president of the Playwrights Guild of Canada. She is published in five anthologies and her trilogy of plays Palliser Suite was published by Frontenac House Press. Caroline has adjudicated plays nationally for contests and publishing houses. She also served on the board of the Alberta Playwrights’ Network and currently represents Western Canadian as ambassador for the Dramatist Guild of America. She co-wrote Strategies - The Business of being a Playwright in Canada (with Rose Scollard) published by the Playwrights Guild of Canada. This year her play, Selma Burke (with co-writer Maria Crooks,) was a finalist for the Sharon Pollock Playwriting Competition. Working as a professional dramaturg, she is the CEO and founder of Dramaturgy on Demand working weekly with playwrights in Canada and the USA. In new play development. Caroline is a member of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas. She has worked on hundreds of new plays. She has also worked as literary manager. She is currently working on her second non-fiction book Do it Yourself Dramaturgy.

Caroline teaches playwriting and leads The Artist Way groups at the Alexander Writers Centre. Working as a freelance theatre critic, she sees about 80 shows a year and is a member of The Canadian Theatre Critics Association. Recently, she started producing under her company Drama on a Dime. When not working in theatre she likes hanging out with atheists. Her new musical is Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster – the musical.
