INTRODUCTION TO AUDITIONING
with JULES ORTON
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This workshop will focus on developing the skills required to give consistent and honest auditions. Both for people interested (and intimidated!) by the audition process, and those looking to improve their auditioning skills! We will begin by covering some audition basics off the top - how to properly prepare, how to harness nerves into focused energy, and how to interact with auditioners. Afterwards, participants are encouraged to present a short monologue that Jules will dig into and provide coaching to optimize the impact of those pieces.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Jules is an actor/director/pisces who loves theatre a lot. She's acted on a lot of stages in Calgary and other Canadian cities and has been given a few awards. They're all made of glass and look really nice on this new ladder shelving unit she just bought. She's been in over 40 plays - she won't list them all because that's boring, but trust her - she's a BIG deal. She's directed 2 plays and they were both hard and wonderful. One time, Fred Penner drove her home in his hybrid car and sang some songs. She's grateful for the creative connections she's made in her life. And she's humbled and made better by the speed bumps.
WHEN:
Saturday, February 4th (12:00 PM – 6:30 PM)
PRICE: $40
WHERE:
Morpheus Rehearsal Centre (3512 5 Avenue NW, Lower Level), Studio B
This workshop is sponsored by Theatre Alberta with funding from The Alberta Foundation for the Arts as part of the ‘Workshops by Request: Hometown Series’
This workshop is presented at this low cost in the spirit of community theatre.
